Last Friday, October 11, our CEO Marc Soteras Marc Soteras, accompanied by the business manager of Unlimited Mobility, María Sanchez, participated in the the debates in Reus Logistics Summit, where the challenges the challenges that lie ahead in the the immediate immediate future in llogistics at Europe.
Reus Logistics Summit: A Collaboration and Learning Event
The event was promoted by REDESSA with the collaboration of Run Brokers, CamionProtect and Mejoramos Tus Seguros in which several speakers from the business world participated.l and logistics.
The day started with a first presentation, ‘The logistics strategy of Spain and Europe‘, by Laia Garriga, manager of technological promotion of the Applied Artificial Intelligence unit at Eurecat.
The future of the logistics sector in the territory
The first of the debates dealt with “The future of the logistics sector in the territory“. and featured Luis Poch, Business Development manager of P3 Logistic Parks; Óscar Reyes, Director of Operations of FM Logísticos; Joan Mª Basora, director of Corporate Development of the Port of Tarragona.
The challenge of talent in the logistics sector
“The challenge of talent in the logistics sector“ was the theme of the second round table, with the participation of Jordi Sardina, general manager of Iveco Barcelona; Cristina Fernández, head of legal and HR at Sertrans; Josep M. Rovira, from the Valls School of Logistics; Joan Llaveria, CEO of Run Broker and founder of CamionProtect and ETS.
It addressed the concern about the driver shortage in the near future, where a shortage of 140,000 drivers is expected in Europe due to the retirement of the current fleet of hauliers, which has a high average age.
The new generations do not want to have access to jobs that do not allow them the advantages and social quality that they have today.
Three possible scenarios were presented to this worrying fact:
- The significant introduction of female talent to this profession. To achieve this, the sector will have to adapt in terms of flexibility and adaptation.
- Youth will also be key, and real efforts will have to be made in training by all stakeholders, companies and administration, as well as making the profession attractive to them.
- Finally, a bit more ironically, we hope that autonomous trucks without a driver behind the wheel will become a reality.
Digitization in the supply chain
The next point for discussion by the attendees, including Unlimited Mobility, was. “Digitalization in the supply chain”.. - People at the center of digitization.
- Technology + Sustainability = Economy.
Decarbonization for a sustainable transformation
And the last debate was positioned against “Thedecarbonization for a sustainable transformation“, with speeches by Marc Oliva, CEO of JAC Motors Iberia; Rafael López, Director of Climate Action and Territory of the Port of Tarragona; Nacho Ramos, Director ofOperations Director of F.Ramos; y Josep Maria Araúzo-Carod, deputy director of the University Institute for Research on Sustainability, Climate Change and Energy Transition IU-RESCAT of the URV.
Finally, before concluding the day with an appetizer networkingEduardo Corella, president of the Innovative Logistics Association of Aragon (ALIA), explained to us the success story of the Aragon Logistics Cluster.
